Doing Business

Can you provide documents for our internal supplier due diligence?

Yes. We provide an extract from our corporate registry (with Japanese translation), financial statements, a written representation of non-affiliation with anti-social forces, a written undertaking regarding end-use, and a corporate profile of the Japanese entity designated by us. Please request these when contacting us.

What types of products do you handle?

We handle a wide range of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), including food and beverages (excluding alcoholic beverages), health foods, cosmetics, daily necessities, and hygiene products.

Can we use only your consulting or support services rather than selling products to you for import and distribution?

Yes. You may use our consulting, logistics, marketplace onboarding, intellectual property, certification, and marking services individually, or request them as an integrated package. These services are fee-based. Please see Services for details.

Are there fixed minimum order quantities or terms for the initial order?

Terms such as initial order quantity, price, and remaining shelf life are determined through individual consultation for each product.

Are there any costs borne by the supplier?

When we purchase and distribute your products, we bear the costs of local testing and registration, labeling, circulation control codes, and customs clearance. If you use only our support services, they are fee-based and quoted according to scope. Regarding trademark registration, we assist with applications strictly in the supplier's name and only when instructed by the supplier; associated costs are determined through separate consultation. We never register trademarks or domain names in our own name.

How is termination of business handled?

Conditions for termination, including the handling of placed orders and remaining inventory, will be stipulated in the contract. The handling of conformity assessment documents and registrations obtained by us (including cooperation in transferring or enabling acquisition by a new importer) will also be defined in the contract. Upon termination, we will cease using the documentation and return or destroy the data provided by you, except for records required to be retained by law.

Can we communicate in Japanese?

Inquiries by email are accepted in Japanese. Telephone, WhatsApp, and WeChat communications are handled in English or Russian; however, if you prefer a meeting in Japanese, an interpreter will attend online meetings.

Export Controls & Exporter

What legal and regulatory checks do you perform for transactions destined for Russia?

Japan's sanctions against Russia do not prohibit all goods. Prior to placing an order, we verify applicability based on the HS code, unit price, destination, and end-user, and handle only fast-moving consumer goods confirmed not to be subject to restrictions. Exports are conducted under standard export declarations explicitly stating Russia as the destination. The final determination regarding export is made by the exporter, which is the Japanese entity designated by us. We also provide you with the information required for your internal transaction screening and export control classification (該非確認)—namely HS code, unit price, destination, and end-use—so that you can complete your own internal verification procedures.

Can you handle cosmetics and food products for Russia?

Each item must be checked individually. According to METI, cosmetics and perfumery fall under the export ban on luxury goods, but low-value items (40,000 yen or less) are excluded. Goods contributing to Russia's industrial base are designated by 6-digit HS codes, and the amendment in force from October 16, 2026 added 102 more items. For food and daily necessities as well, we check the HS code and unit price of each SKU against the rules in force on the shipping date and handle only items that are not covered. We do not handle alcoholic beverages. The official sources we rely on are listed under Compliance.

Who acts as the exporter of record?

The exporter is the Japanese entity designated by us. Your transaction will be a domestic sale in Japan to that entity. It is a Japanese exporter legally separate from us that receives the goods, makes payment, and arranges shipment. Its name, address, Corporate Number, and relationship with us will be explained individually at the inquiry stage. Please note that if you ship items—including samples—directly overseas from your company, your company will be the exporter, so please consult us in advance.

Payment & Contracts

How is payment settled?

Payment is made in Japanese yen by the Japanese entity designated by us to your bank account in Japan prior to delivery (advance payment). The contracting parties and detailed terms will be explained in writing prior to entering into a contract.

With which entity do we sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)?

In principle, agreements are concluded with us (JDM Company LLC). Where necessary, a tripartite agreement including the Japanese entity designated by us can also be executed.

Labeling & Certification

Is it necessary to modify our product packaging?

In principle, no modification is required. Russian-language label stickers and circulation control codes are affixed at a warehouse in Japan prior to shipment. Draft labels are submitted for your approval before printing. If any additional measures are required, we will consult with you on a product-by-product basis.

What is EAC certification?

It is the common name for the procedure confirming that a product meets the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan). Depending on the product, a declaration of conformity, a certificate of conformity or a state registration certificate is obtained, and the EAC mark is applied. Under Article 53 of the EAEU Treaty, member states may not impose additional requirements or conformity assessment on compliant products. For imported goods, the applicant is an importer or other business in the EAEU; we obtain the documents as the applicant. See Certification & Marking.

What is the EAEU, and can you sell outside Russia?

The Eurasian Economic Union is an economic union of five countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. As a customs union it has a common tariff and common technical regulations, and goods in free circulation move between member states without customs declarations. Its population is about 185.9 million (1 January 2025, Eurasian Economic Commission). Our sales are currently conducted within Russia; expansion to other member states can be proposed with the supplier's consent, after checking each country's labeling rules and Japanese export controls. See The Russian and EAEU Market.

Information & Brand Protection

How is information regarding our transactions handled?

It is handled strictly within the scope of your consent in accordance with our Non-Disclosure Agreement and written pledge letter. Please note that under EAEU technical regulations, the manufacturer's name and manufacturing site address are stated on product labels and in official public registries.

Will our company name be publicly disclosed in connection with sales in Russia?

Except for mandatory disclosures required by law, no. Under EAEU technical regulations, the manufacturer's name and the address of the manufacturing facility must be stated on the product's Russian-language label and in official public registries for Declarations of Conformity and similar certificates. Beyond this, we will not use your company name or the fact of our business relationship in advertisements, websites, press releases, or elsewhere without your prior written consent.

Can you counter parallel imports and unauthorized sellers?

Yes, for products whose trademark is registered in Russia (except for certain items on the parallel import list), through the customs IP register and marketplace procedures. As the official importer, we carry out these procedures on behalf of the rights holder. See The Russian and EAEU Market for details.

What happens if our trademark is not registered in Russia?

In Russia, only trademarks registered in Russia are protected. Without a registration, action through the customs IP register and marketplace procedures is not available. A registered mark that is not used continuously for three years may also be challenged for cancellation. See Trademarks in Russia.
